Spring is here, a time of fresh starts and new beginnings. I'll be starting a new class, Write That Book! on May 6th, 6:30-8:30pm. If you have a novel started tha's now moldering in a drawer, or notes for a memoir, drafts of short stories that have gone by the wayside, this is the class for you. Fnd inspiration from creative and fun writing exercises, lessons on craft, and positive feedback. Wednesdays, $100 for four weeks.
For homework this week, I asked everyone to keep a notebook with them, make at least five observations a day, then write at least one paragraph from those observations. It's something I highly recommend, keeping a small notebook or index cards for jotting down observations and ideas. You never know when inspiration may strike!
Here are some of my Easter Sunday observations, from Immaculate Conception Church, 10:00 Mass:
--my mom and I always sit under the most sober of the Stations of the Cross, "Jesus Dies On The Cross." I tell my mom it's bad juju, no wonder I have no luck, but she doesn't care. She's been sitting under "Jesus Dies On the Cross" for eighty years.
--I wish I had a halo, they're so pretty, especially those by Botticelli.
--there are nun ads in the Catholic Observer. Orders you can join. "Contemplative order, silence observed." Sounds restful, for about half a day.
